League Champions!!!
Courtown Hibs Ladies 4: Kilmore 0 A dominant performance from Hibs Ladies today was enough to give them the win required to secure their first league title with two matches to go. This Hibs Ladies team have given all and finished second in the league and cup for three years running. Winning promotion every year but yet to taste success. Hibs started the game well but couldn't settle, I believe nerves had a lot to do with the way the first half went. Hibs having all the position only to fail with the final ball. It wasn't until the 38th minute that Marian Cardiff chased down an attempted clearance and ran through to beat the on rushing Camolin keeper. Half time and Hibs went in 1:0 up. Second half was a bit more open as both teams went at each other. Kilmore always looked dangerous but Hibs Back 4 looked solid. Hibs started to spread the ball around making Kilmore do a bit more chasing. Sonia Redmond latched onto a breaking ball from a corner and slotted home the second on the 70th minute. Erin Carroll was then played through wide right after a ball that started at left full and four passes later Erin running in the inside right channel shot from the edge of the box and the ball nestled in the net below the crossbar. Kilmore broke and their centre forward shoot from right hand side of the box but Hibs keeper Jean Kavanagh smothered the ball and was not giving up a clean sheet today. Substitute Alice Harte completed the scoring thus girl along with others has been the backbone of the ladies team. Not just 11 on the pitch Hibs Ladies winning division one was a club squad effort 18 Ladies and more contributing to the deserved happiness today Up the Hibs!!
